It's budget season! Time to see how the county plans on spending your tax dollars! We are currently sitting in Committee of the Whole to review the draft operating and capital costs. Take a moment to look it over, this affects you!
Sitting and knitting, painting, or eating dinner? Tune into our live broadcast. You can even email us questions!
It's encouraging to hear that we are thriving as a county! Our growth is good, the housing market is strong, and our financial indicators show that Kings County is a great place to live! Boy of boy, isn't it great to be involved with your community?
It's International Women's Day and I am at the doctors office. The room is filled with expectant mothers, all telling their unique stories to each other. First child, fourth child, premature births and going full term. The excitement of a healthy pregnancy and the full experience of labour and birth. I'm in awe of their strength and excitement. I'm also so grateful to live in a country where as they express their excitement, they can also admit they may not want more and are able to openly discuss their birth control options.
I'm proud that I and all of these women have access to stress free healthcare from a multitude of talented doctors and nurses. I'm proud that my doctor is a woman!
It's a great day to be at the OBGYN and feel the bonding power that is pregnancy and childbirth. Way to go strong, brave, friendly mama's, you're exactly what rural Nova Scotia needs!
PLACESPEAK Engagement Tool Launched
KINGS COUNTY, NS: The Municipality of the County of Kings has launched its new engagement tool PlaceSpeak in an effort to better communicate and receive feedback from the public.
On August 2nd, 2016, Council adopted a Community Engagement Policy and accepted the Community Engagement Strategy. This strategy will guide staff and Council to conduct engagement in a manner that enhances communication and decision making. This strategy also serves as an education tool for the public to understand how the Municipality will set out to engage the public and improve its engagement.
The online engagement tool is a way to reduce barriers, increase transparency and facilitate two-way communication. The hope is that through this tool we can make better decisions, save time and resources, build stronger relationships, and better inform residents of projects going on in their communities.
Want to be notified or consulted about projects that affect you? You can receive notifications about changes in your community, provide feedback based on where you live or work, and you can influence decisions in a meaningful way.
To check out our online engagement tool visit: www.countyofkings.ca and click the PlaceSpeak icon on the right to join the conversation. Residents are encouraged to log in to ensure they are notified of new topics as they are made available.
"We hope to use this tool to better engage residents when it comes to things like the New Municipal Complex, the draft Land Use Bylaw and Municipal Planning Strategy, Recreation Needs Assessment and so much more!" – Mayor Muttart
